Data Retention Policy

Last updated: April 27, 2026

Default Retention

Beckett keeps account content for as long as your account is active, unless you delete individual content sooner. Account content includes notes, messages, journal entries, tasks, events, projects, recipes, media library items, and similar data you create or ask Beckett to manage.

Authentication sessions, rate-limit records, security logs, and support metadata are retained only as long as needed for security, abuse prevention, debugging, legal compliance, or billing.

Connected Services

Connected-service credentials are encrypted and retained until you disconnect the integration, the token expires or is invalidated, or your account is deleted. When you disconnect an integration, Beckett deletes its local credential record and stops future access.

For integrations that support provider-side revocation or removal, Beckett also requests provider-side removal as part of the integration-specific disconnect flow.

Financial Account Data

Plaid-powered financial account features are not yet generally available. When they launch, Beckett will treat Plaid-derived account data as connected-service data with additional retention limits.

  • Credentials and Item identifiers: encrypted and retained only while the financial account remains connected.
  • Account metadata and balances: retained while the financial account remains connected and needed to provide account views, reminders, and finance-related responses.
  • Transactions: retained for up to 24 months while the financial account remains connected, unless you delete your account or disconnect the financial account sooner.
  • Disconnected financial accounts: local credentials are deleted immediately, future sync stops, Plaid Item removal is requested, and cached balances and transactions are deleted or de-identified within 7 days.

Account Deletion

When you delete your Beckett account, active account data is removed from Beckett's production systems. For financial account connections, Beckett will request Plaid Item removal before deleting local financial credentials and cached financial data.

A minimal deletion ledger may survive account deletion so Beckett can prove the request was received and completed. That ledger does not retain raw notes, messages, transactions, balances, or financial account credentials.

Backups and Legal Holds

Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period until those backups expire or are overwritten. Beckett may retain specific records longer if required to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or enforce agreements.
